It came down to Georgia and Texas A&M for Amari Daniels. The four-star running back out of Miami (Fla.) Central eliminated Miami and Penn State, got it down to two, and he is now headed to College Station to be an Aggie.

Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M have had success in south Florida before, landing Donnell Harris in 2020. Harris was an athletic end coming out of high school, but Daniels is a playmaker on the offensive side of the ball.

"I don't think people realize how fast and powerful Amari really is," said Miami Central assistant Anthony White. "He was in the junior olympics when he was around 12 or 13 years old because of his speed, so he is an athlete that can make a lot of plays.

"Some have described Amari as more quick than fast, but I would disagree with that. People don't really know how fast he is until they try to catch him, and he typically runs away from people."

Do not let his frame fool you either. Just because Daniel's isn't 6-feet tall, he still runs with plenty of authority.

"Amari is really strong for his size. We run a lot of inside zone, and he is very good at that because of his power and the way he runs. Some would think he may be a perimeter runner due to his size and speed, but he is tough, he is strong and he runs with a lot of power too. He is not just speed."

It is not just about the physical attributes either. Daniels works hard when the pads are off too. He has his act together and he is focused on being the best he can be on and off the field.

"You cannot measure the heart Amari has," said White. "He has a lot of heart, he has a lot of passion and you see that all the time. He is on the quiet side, and more of a leader by example, but he puts in the work, he cares about the team and I love his passion.

"He has that savvy too. He just gets it done. Amari is a great kid, he is always working hard and he loves to compete."He works hard, he runs hard and he plays fast.

"Amari can do a lot and he is not a back that dances around back there; he is a one-cut runner that gets down hill and makes a big play quickly."
