Tennessee has pulled a major flip on the recruiting trail. The team added another huge commitment when four-star tight end Da’Saahn Brame committed to the team. Brame recently committed to Oregon over Tennessee but now he will be a Vol.

Brame is the 19th known commitment for Tennessee’s 2025 recruiting class. He’s the ninth commitment since June 12. Coach Josh Heupel’s program is trending towards a top ten recruiting class in the Rivals team rankings.

WHAT BRAME MEANS FOR TENNESSEE

This recruitment took some twists and turns. The Derby (Kan.) High star took official visits to LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Oregon and Tennessee. For one stretch of the recruitment it seemed like Oklahoma was the leader. Until just a couple days before his announcement, everyone thought he was going to Oregon. Tennessee made things interesting the first time around and their push didn’t go unnoticed.

They’ve pulled the flip.

The Vols pulling the surprise in the end is a testament to the coaching staff staying on him, the opportunity he sees on the field in Knoxville and Tennessee’s NIL operation.

The Vols continue to add blue-chip talent to the roster at a rate that is needed if the program wants to consistently reach the top of the SEC.

WHAT BRAME BRINGS TO THE VOLS

Brame is one of the most versatile tight ends in this 2025 recruiting class.

Seeing him up close at Rivals Five-Star solidified what we’ve seen from him on tape. He’s got a great frame (6-3, 217) to build on but is already big enough to see the field early in college. Brame has great body control and leaping ability that allows him to catch the ball up top with ease. We saw that many times during the 7-on-7 portion of Rivals Five-Star.

Another thing that will help Brame is his experience in a variety of styles of play. He's been an end of line tight end, lining up attached to the tackle. He's been detached and in the slot. He's played some h-back.

This versatility would make him extremely valuable in a Tennessee system that's set up best when an athletic and capable tight end is in play. He will be a major weapon in Heupel’s wide open and aggressive offense.
