THE STORYLINE

John Dunmore has been committed to Penn State since July 4, but his recruitment is far from over, especially after the four-star receiver visited Miami this past weekend.

Coach Mark Richt and his staff did everything possible to convince the Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade Madonna standout to stay home. He talked about how Dunmore's family could see him play down the road and played every angle to sway his recruitment in the Hurricanes’ favor.

There is a lot to think about.

Family member Conard Johnson talked with CaneSport.com on Sunday about the situation and said, “If it’s not Penn State I don’t think he’ll sign on Wednesday. He’ll wait till February. And I feel like he’s going to wait, won’t sign on Wednesday.”

Dunmore’s cousin, Todd Johnson, told CaneSport he feels like Dunmore will stick with the Nittany Lions.

The four-star receiver has not made it clear whether he will sign Wednesday or not. Even though he’s committed, Dunmore’s recruitment remains wild and crazy in the closing hours. So what’s the prediction on what he’s going to do?

FIRST TAKE: ROB CASSIDY, SOUTHEAST RECRUITING ANALYST

“It's hard to say here. Dunmore has spent the last four months swearing that he wasn't considering a single other school, so the visit raises some eyebrows for sure. That said, Miami has a lot of ground to make up in a short amount of time. I think Penn State hangs on here, but I wouldn't be floored if there's a signing-day twist.

“Dunmore's relationship with Penn State has been built over months of communication, so the Hurricanes will need to sell him on the possibility of early playing time and proximity to home.”

SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, NATIONAL RECRUITING DIRECTOR

“He was one of the surprise commitments of the class, so if Dunmore holds off that’s bad news for Penn State. They Nittany Lions don’t want him to take these local visits and they thought they had him wrapped up, so Miami is going to do everything they can to offer early playing time and the ability to make an impact. If I’m Penn State, I’m worried about that one. If he doesn’t sign early or if he flips to Miami, it wouldn’t surprise me.”
