MORE: Texas prospects weigh in on Texas-Texas A&M rivalry

Take Two returns with another offering tackling a relevant topic in the college football landscape. Rivals.com National Recruiting Analyst Adam Gorney lays out the situation and then receives takes from National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell and a local expert from the Rivals.com network of team sites.

THE STORYLINE

Texas A&M lost to Clemson by two points in College Station in early September but after experiencing that raucous environment, four-star Demond Demas committed to the Aggies and Jimbo Fisher.

It was a surprise pledge since the Houston (Texas) Tomball standout had recently named a top five of Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State. The Aggies were not even in his top group but Demas saw everything he wanted to see that night at A&M and made his pledge.

More than five months on, Demas is showing no signs of backing off that pledge or looking at other schools. Many believe Texas could be the biggest competitor for Demas, who’s ranked as the fourth-best wide receiver in the 2020 class and the first one outside five-star status.

Demas has taken numerous visits to Texas. He knows the campus well, the coaches well and how the Longhorns would use him in the offense.

Can Texas A&M keep Demas as a cornerstone of this recruiting class or will Texas be able to stay involved and be able to flip him at some point?

FIRST TAKE: JASON SUCHOMEL, ORANGEBLOODS.COM

“The longer his commitment has gone on the more it has solidified him to Texas A&M. He’s a fantastic prospect and so Texas and others will certainly be interested. The Longhorns will continue to recruit him. As he stays solidly committed to A&M, I would expect Texas’ efforts to be focused elsewhere. I could see a scenario where Demas takes other visits, but right now there’s a pretty good chance he sticks with Texas A&M.”

SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, RIVALS.COM

“He seems pretty solid. Everything you see is Gig 'Em. He’s all about Texas A&M. Jimbo Fisher does a great job recruiting, the Aggies are coming off a very, very good class. Texas will give it a shot and they certainly have a chance and they’re coming off a great recruiting class as well, but if I had to guess, Demas would stick with Texas A&M.”
