Still early for Gilchrist

Isaiah Gilchrist plays offense, defense and special teams. The 2016 four-star from Bellevue, Wash., hardly ever comes off the field and that just speaks to how valuable he is to the team.
Gilchrist, who has early offers from USC, Washington and Washington State, played a big role in Bellevue's victory over Gardena (Calif.) Serra last weekend at the Honor Bowl and the four-star said he was happy with the team's performance.

"It was good," Gilchrist said. "We came out of the locker room and it's this thing we call The Knowing.
"We know we're coming in and we're going to win this game. We were pretty confident coming in. Our offense was clicking the first few drives and our defense was able to hold them to field goals so we did pretty well in our first game out but we have a lot to improve on."
As for his recruitment, Gilchrist said it's still way early. He's only taken unofficial visits to Washington and Washington State and he's hoping to see USC as well.
Strong opinions on favorites have not been formed yet and Gilchrist said he needs to do more research before anything could be figured out.
"The only schools that that I've visited are Washington State and Washington," Gilchrist said. "I'd like to go and visit USC so I can kind of see where they're at on my list. All three are all at the same level right now and all three want me as a defensive back so I don't see a lot of offense in my future."
The Bellevue standout knows a little bit about new coach Steve Sarkisian and new Washington coach Chris Petersen but his relationships with both are still preliminary.
"I talked to (Sarkisian) back when he was at Washington," Gilchrist said. "I know them pretty well but that's when I was younger as a freshman, just beginning sophomore, so I didn't know them a lot. It was more brief conversations.
"It's tough coming in as the new coach, new offense and different players but from what I've seen (from Petersen) they're getting there. They're 2-0 so they're starting off strong so I think he's doing well starting off."
