Spencer recaps busy weekend

Octavius Spencer has had a phenomenal weekend.
The three-star defensive back from Monrovia, Calif., was offered by UCLA and Oregon and now Spencer has a lot of thinking to do as his recruitment picks up.

Prior to those two Pac-12 offers, Spencer only had an offer from Sacramento State.
"Oregon came down this past Tuesday to watch me practice and they told me they liked what they saw," Spencer said. "They said they were going to be in contact with me really soon.
"And then I've always had a good relationship with (UCLA assistant) coach (Demetrice) Martin. We've been talking a lot lately and (Sunday) he finally pulled the trigger."
Spencer, whose Monrovia team is still in the playoffs, said Oregon likes him strictly at cornerback and UCLA said it's open to corner or wide receiver.
So far this season, Spencer has 550 receiving yards and seven touchdowns. On defense, the three-star has recorded 34 tackles and two interceptions.
The Bruins have been considered a favorite but Spencer said he wants to take some official visits and figure everything out a little later on. Both Pac-12 programs should be seen by Spencer soon.
The Monrovia prospect is working on trip dates with Oregon and UCLA and he said a decision could hopefully be made earlier than National Signing Day. This week Michigan has also reached out but the Wolverines have not offered yet.
"I'm just waiting for everything to pan out and I want to take my visits," Spencer said. "I'll make my decision later most likely but earlier than signing day."
Spencer, along with plenty of other prospects, expects to attend the USC-UCLA game at the Rose Bowl next weekend.
