Spence, who came in at 6-foot-4, 232 pounds at the Rivals.com Dallas Junior Day, certainly has the frame that college coaches are looking for at defensive end. However, he's also had time at quarterback, defensive end, and even earned honors as a junior for his punting schools.
Recruiting is the next thing on the list and Spence says that things are off to a good start.
"So far, I've been to the Oklahoma junior day," Spence said. "Next week, I'm going to the Vanderbilt junior day and then I'm going to see what pops up from there."
Spence says that if he had to guess who may be first with an offer, he'd have to bring up Oklahoma State.
"My coach said that they were probably going to offer in the coming months," Spence said. "I think they're pretty close from what I hear."
It's the out-of-state schools that are the early favorites on his list.
"My favorites would probably be Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt," Spence said. "I have a lot of family in Tennessee, so I've grown up around that."
The Rivals.com Junior Day at Southern Methodist University was definitely worth while.
"I picked up a lot of things, especially about the importance of academics," Spence said. "I really got to learn a lot more about the recruiting process."
