Southern Miss gets Sloter to flip

Not long after Rickey Bustle was hired as offensive coordinator at Southern Miss recently, he began to pursue a quarterback he had helped lure to Tulane just a few months earlier.
And on Monday night, Bustle got his man.

Again.
"I just switched to Southern Miss from Tulane," said Kyle Sloter of Georgia's Mt. Pisgah Christian.
How come?
"There were a lot of reasons, but one of the main ones was Coach Bustle," Sloter said. "He's who recruited me to Tulane. He was someone I really felt comfortable with, someone I wanted to coach me. And there was the feeling of being wanted there. That was a big part of me wanting to go there."
Sloter committed to Tulane on Oct. 17.
But that same week, head coach Bob Toledo stepped down.
"After the coaching change at Tulane, they gave me the option to look around," Sloter said. "Coach Bustle told me he wanted to coach me from the beginning. He told me he wanted to coach me wherever he went. He happened to land at Southern Miss. That's how I got this opportunity."
Sloter made his official to Southern Miss last weekend.
"I just called them about an hour ago to commit," he said. "I talked to Coach Bustle, and I let him know I was coming there. He was real excited. He was someone who wanted me from the beginning. He came to my house to see me. He ate dinner with my family. He was really tickled I was coming there."
A four-year high school starter, Sloter passed for more than 6,000 career yards.
