Los Alamitos, Calif., quarterback Jimmy Barnes (6-5, 225, 5.0) has seen his stock heat up this spring. So far Barnes has picked up two offers and he is on the short list of two outstanding schools.

Barnes is the son of Los Alamitos head coach John Barnes one of the most successful high school programs in southern California.
Being the son of a coach with an excellent track record for developing quarterbacks has helped the younger Barnes have an advanced knowledge of the game and has helped him gain outstanding mechanics.
Two schools think so much of Barnes that they have offered him a scholarship. The two schools are Alabama and Arizona.
Notre Dame is only recruiting two quarterbacks and Barnes is one of those. Miami is only recruiting three quarterbacks and Barnes is included in that list.
Besides being a coach’s son and having an advanced knowledge of the game. Barnes has that one trait coaches love their quarterback to have and that is, he wins.
In his first year as a starter on the varsity level, Barnes led Los Al to an 11-2 record. As a sophomore, he led the JV squad to a perfect 10-0 record and as a frosh; he led the freshmen team to a 9-1 record.
As a junior, Barnes was selected all-CIF Division I, first-team all-league and Long Beach Post-Telegraph Dream Team after throwing for 2,346 yards and 20 touchdowns. He also picked up another six touchdowns on the ground.
“Jimmy has a tall good release, moves well in the pocket and has a real strong, live arm,” Los Alamitos head coach John Barnes said. “He can read coverages and knows where to throw the ball.”
“At our level, Jimmy has to really understand the game,” Barnes said. “We see so many different coverages.”
Los Al has an excellent track record of sending their signal-callers to the D-I level and it looks like there will be another Los Al quarterback who will be playing on Saturday’s.
