Smothers previews his official visit to Nebraska

Logan Smothers is set to leave for Lincoln Saturday morning for his official visit to Nebraska. This will be the fourth visit for the Husker commit, but first visit on game-day. The four-star quarterback out of Muscle Shoals (Ala.)

"It is going to be huge seeing the full stadium, all the fans, and just to think about it is crazy to me," said Smothers. "We are playing Ohio State on top of that, so I am excited to see it all and I think it is going to be epic.

"I will looking at the fans and crowd for sure, but I also want to see how the coaches work, how they control the sideline, how the players respond and what all goes on, on game day."

Smothers feels he knows most of the ins and outs of what Nebraska is all about. He is close to the staff, he has learned a lot about the academics and on this trip, he will be looking for the little things.

"I have visited three times, so I feel comfortable there and I really do not have any questions going into this visit.

"I just want to see the little things that only I could see on game day. Like how coach Verduzco handles the quarterbacks, how Adrian Martinez prepares for the game and things like that. It is really about the little things on this visit for me.

"I am excited to see things like that, that I have not seen yet."

Being committed since July before his junior year has put Smothers in a spot unlike many others. Football recruits are committing much earlier now, but this decision was a little different on both sides.

Scott Frost made it clear to Smothers that he was their target at quarterback in 2020 and the two seem like a perfect match. That decision 14 months ago to the day has put the signal caller in northern Alabama at ease.

"Knowing I have found my school is a huge weight off my shoulders," said Smothers. "I get to go out and play Friday nights and relax. I play my game, then watch Nebraska play Saturdays and I think about getting out there.

"I sit back watching Adrian play, watching the sideline and I look forward to getting that playbook down the road. It is a good feeling.

"It is hard for me to see anything even making me think about changing my mind. I like what coach Frost is doing, I am excited about being a part of it and I will be out again soon to see it again."
