Recruitment story
Watts picked up his first offer from home-state Rutgers during his junior season, and the Knights remained hard after him into the Spring. He pulled the trigger for the Scarlet Knights in late March. He was solid with RU despite new offers through much of the early stages of his senior year.
The Scarlet Knights tanked on the field, however, and an offer from Virginia Tech was far more impactful in his mind than those from the likes of Boston College. He decommitted from Rutgers during the December dead period, and it wasn't even clear who the Hokies' competition was at that time. He took his official visit to Blacksburg in mid-January and wasted no time in committing.
Statistically speaking
Watts made 43 total tackles, three for loss as a senior. He also intercepted two passes, broke up 11 more, and featured at RB/WR on offense. He ran 27 times for 188 yards (7.0 per run) and one touchdown, and caught 30 passes for 765 yards (25.5 per catch) and another nine scores.
