OVERVIEW: The Brockermeyer Bros. committed to Alabama last week and it was not much of a surprise as the Crimson Tide had emerged as the favorite for both of them over the last few weeks, even though they are Texas legacies. Their dad, Blake, played for the Longhorns and their brother, Luke, is currently on the Texas roster. Auburn, LSU and Clemson were also seriously considered. Even though he missed his junior season with a shoulder injury, Tommy Brockermeyer is ranked as the second-best offensive tackle in the 2021 class. His brother, James, is the third-best center.

FARRELL’S TAKE: Tommy has the upside here as an elite left tackle prospect, and he could have a similar career to Jonah Williams at Alabama if all goes well. But let’s not forget James here at all, as he’s a gritty, undersized center who is a pain for defenders. Alabama produces good centers as well as tackles and both have a chance to have NFL futures.

BLAINE GREEN AND BRYSON GREEN

OVERVIEW: Originally from Minnesota, the Green Bros. have been playing high school football in the Dallas area for the past two seasons. Being from the Midwest but now playing in the South has made their recruitment much more interesting, as Oklahoma State beat out Minnesota, Texas, Baylor, Texas Tech, Auburn and North Carolina for their pledges in June. All 11 of Oklahoma State’s commits are now either from Oklahoma or Texas.

FARRELL’S TAKE: Bryson is the more accomplished, but when he went down to injury last season it was Blaine who stepped up and the difference in talent isn’t much here. I expect both to be keys to the offense early, and they will push each other to get better. One will eventually emerge as the better twin, but we don’t know which one.

JAILLEN HOWZE AND QUILLEN HOWZE

OVERVIEW: Quillen Howze turned down ACC, Big Ten and SEC offers to play with his brother, Jaillen, at Buffalo. Jaillen is a talented linebacker who had other MAC offers. Quillen could be a game-changer recruit for the Bulls, as he’s a three-star athlete who could contribute all over the field.

FARRELL’S TAKE: Quillen is the bigger fish here as an athlete who can play many positions, but Jaillen is no slouch and further from his ceiling. Getting Quillen is a big deal for Buffalo, but as we learned with the McCourty twins at Rutgers, sometimes both emerge as underrated playmakers.

KALEN KING AND KOBE KING

OVERVIEW: At their commitment ceremony, the King Bros. were at a table with Michigan, Michigan State and Wisconsin hats and when they went to announce their pledge, one had a Michigan shirt on while the other had Michigan State attire. It was all a joke, as they took those off to show their Penn State shirts as that commitment was not a shock at all. After visiting for the spring game and another visit, Michigan had the final crack with a visit to Ann Arbor, but the Nittany Lions won out. Safeties coach Tim Banks had a big role in landing their commitments.

FARRELL’S TAKE: Kalen is the more accomplished right now and a natural corner who could also play safety, while Kobe is a hard-hitting linebacker who just needs to add some quick twitch-ability to make a big impact. These are two very good gets out of Michigan for James Franklin and company, and both should be a big part of the defense down the line.

CEDRIC SEABROUGH AND FREDRICK SEABROUGH

OVERVIEW: Not only are the Seabrough Bros. twins, they also both play tight end - and dominate on the defensive side of the ball. Those aren’t the only commonalities. Both are rated as mid-level three-star prospects, with Cedric at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds and Fredrick at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds. They both had seven offers, all from the same schools: NC State, Maryland, Coastal Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Liberty, UAB and Western Kentucky. And they both committed to the Wolfpack on July 4.

FARRELL’S TAKE: This could be the sleeper tight end group of them all, as both are big and talented receivers and they can be used in many ways. I can see one flexing out and the other outside or in-line on the field at the same time as a mismatch issue. They both put up good numbers in high school sharing catches, so that won’t be a problem.
