SEC visits next for Dotson

With the commencement of his junior season on hold while he rehabilitates a wrist injury, Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller 2017 tight end Matthew Dotson will be filling his weekends with college football.

"I am going to the Tennessee-Oklahoma game this upcoming weekend," Dotson said. "I have been there three or four times this summer. I am excited for it and love Tennessee, love everything about them. I know it is sold out so that is going be 110,000 people there. Then, we're going to do the Vol Walk so that is another 40,000 in the street."
The weekend immediately following his Tennessee visit, Dotson will be taking a game visit to see Kentucky when they play host to Florida. That trip was just scheduled this week after he picked up an offer from the Wildcats on Monday.
"I wasn't really expecting it because I hadn't really talked to them," Dotson said. "I called Coach (Vince) Marrow and we were just talking for a little bit, then he said, 'I'd like to offer you a full-ride scholarship.'"
Monday was a fruitful day for Dotson, as he also added a new offer from the Maryland Terrapins.
"The tight ends coach, we've talked on Twitter since Sept. 1," Dotson said. "He said he looked at my film and was going to show it to the head coach. He messaged me (Monday) and said call him whenever it was convenient, 'we've got some great news for you' in all capital letters."
A three-star prospect ranked as the No. 16 player in the state of Ohio, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound Dotson had surgery on his wrist over the summer that will keep him out until Week 5 of the high school season. He has been able to begin practicing with his team in recent days, however.
Even after Dotson is able to return to the field he will continue taking game visits. He will attend a Penn State game on Oct. 10, an Ohio State game on Oct. 17 and a Pittsburgh game on Nov. 7. Depending on his team's post-season schedule, Dotson will also try to make a Michigan State game in November.
