With the summer recruiting circuit all but over, it’s time to take a look back over the past two months and rank the biggest summer commitments for each SEC team.

ALABAMA

The skinny: The Tide dipped into Texas to land Shavers, one of the nation’s top wide receivers and a multi-sport star. The No. 146 prospect in the Rivals250 figures to be the next in a long line of tall wideouts to have success in Tuscaloosa. His commitment has helped vault the Tide to No. 2 overall in the Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings.

ARKANSAS

The skinny: Hayden saw his stock rise quite a bit over the summer, but in the end it was his loyalty to the Razorbacks that helped the school land his commitment earlier this week. Hayden, who is also a basketball star, is ranked as the No. 224 prospect in the Rivals250 and brings a skill set that is unique to other recruits in recent years.

AUBURN

The skinny: The versatile athlete kicked off the summer with a bang, committing to the Tigers in early June. He can be used in a multitude of ways and, whether it’s on defense or as an offensive weapon, the No. 159 prospect in the Rivals250 is a big pickup. Askew’s commitment is a big part of the Tigers' No. 20 spot in the Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings.

FLORIDA

The skinny: Carter seemed like he was heading to Auburn and after spending several days on The Plains he came back ready to decide. But in the end, the opportunity to stay close to home and play for his childhood favorite was too much for the four-star prospect to pass up.

GEORGIA

The skinny: The one-time Notre Dame commit looked hard at several other programs, including Florida State and Alabama, but it was Georgia who sealed the deal with a detailed plan for Beal’s fit in the defense. The No. 70 prospect in the Rivals100 is part of a big class for Georgia, which is currently No. 6 in the Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings.

KENTUCKY

The skinny: Kentucky has a need for playmakers in the middle of its defense, so it wasn’t a surprise to see them reach into the JUCO ranks and target Hoskins. The 6-foot-5 space eater could play a vital role in Lexington early in his career.

LSU

The skinny: The Tigers top this list with the nation’s No. 30 overall player, who pulled the trigger on his commitment in early June. He’s been part of a big summer for the Tigers, who currently sit at No. 4 overall in the Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings.

OLE MISS

The skinny: The Rebels have seen a flurry of commitments over the summer, but none was bigger than in-state linebacker Gay. Hailing from Starkville, home of the Rebels’ biggest rival, Gay elected to spurn the hometown Bulldogs in favor of Ole Miss. Gay, the nation’s No. 18 inside linebacker, and his commitment have helped the Rebels to rise to No. 36 overall in the Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings.

MISSISSIPPI STATE

The skinny: The Bulldogs have had quite a bit of success in recent years recruiting at the JUCO level so the addition of Pope isn’t a surprise on that front. The 6-foot-4, 280-pounder fills an area of need for the school as well. Mississippi State currently sits at No. 13 in the Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings.

MISSOURI

The skinny: The Tigers have built more than half of their current class with commitments over the summer and the nation’s No. 86-ranked wide receiver highlights that group. Armstrong is a playmaker at the wide receiver position.

SOUTH CAROLINA

The skinny: The Gamecocks have seen a flurry of commitments roll in over the summer but none was bigger than the addition of Smith. A playmaking wide receiver that was pursued by several other SEC schools, he gives the new staff a marquee in-state name in the class. Smith ranks as the nation’s No. 51-ranked wide receiver and his commitment has helped the Gamecocks vault to No. 16 in the Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings.

TENNESSEE

The skinny: The commitment from the in-state defensive back kick started summer recruiting for the Vols. Despite being the target of several out of state rivals, the No. 104-ranked prospect in the Rivals250 elected to stay close to home and has already been a key recruiter for the Volunteers, helping them climb to No. 8 in the Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings.

TEXAS A&M

The skinny: There has been plenty of quarterback drama in College Station over the past few years and, after decommitting from Baylor, the nation’s No. 101 overall player made the Aggies sweat before officially joining the class. Mond’s commitment is a big reason why the Aggies are ranked No. 10 overall in the Rivals.com Team Recruiting Rankings.

VANDERBILT

The skinny: Free helped kick off a summer of success for the Commodores. The nation’s No. 20 pro-style passer was Vanderbilt’s first commitment in the class. Since, the school has added 10 additional commitments.
