Chad Thomas has been a firm commitment to Miami since he pledged to the hometown Hurricanes in July and has helped Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington get off to a 3-0 start to open the season. UM is also 3-0, so things are going well for the talented defensive lineman.
"Everything is going good," stated Thomas. "I'm working to be a good leader and senior for the team."
A couple of weeks ago, Thomas attended the Miami-Florida game. He said he wasn't surprised by the Hurricanes' solid defensive effort.
"No, they didn't surprise me," replied Thomas. "I talked to (linebacker Denzel) Perryman a lot. He gives me something and I try to give him something, little coaching things. They came out and played hard."
Thomas' commitment to Miami hasn't stopped other schools from trying to get him on campus for an official visit. The Rivals100 presented by Under Armour defender said Alabama, Florida State, Louisville, and LSU are still coming after him.
"I'm locked in with Miami," Thomas said. "I'm going to Louisville to visit my cousin and I have a lot of friends up there. It will probably be during my bye right before the playoffs."
Will he go back to Alabama and FSU, where he camped this summer?
"I don't know yet, I'm going to try," answered Thomas. "I have to see what's up with my coaches."
