The Danville (Calif.) San Ramon Valley offensive tackle recently landed an offer from UCLA and he said Oklahoma and Boise State are showing much more interest.
Samia, a 6-foot-5, 280-pound three-star, is strongly considering a trip to Norman in the coming weeks and he's hopeful an offer could be close.
"Recruiting has been going really good," Samia said. "I got the UCLA offer that I really wanted and I've talked to Boise State and a little more to Oklahoma. I should be taking a trip to Oklahoma at the beginning of August but that isn't finalized yet.
"I think they want to see that I'm really interested in them. I can say I'm really interested and that I'll consider them all I want but actually flying all the way out to Oklahoma would show how much interest I have in them. We'll see what happens after that but I have a good feeling of what's going to happen on that trip."
If the Sooners offer, Samia said he would definitely move them way up his list. With their history and their tradition, the Northern California prospect said he'll take a serious look.
"It would be big," Samia said. "You can't just pass up that opportunity. You can't disregard a program like Oklahoma because Oklahoma is great."
So far, the three-star offensive tackle has been offered by California, Colorado, Fresno State, Oregon State, San Jose State, Texas Tech, UCLA, Utah, Utah State, Washington State and others. He attended the USC camp but was not offered.
It's no secret UCLA looks good in his recruitment. The Bruins definitely moved up after offering and then he had a good experience recently at their camp. Another trip to Westwood could happen soon but an early decision is not expected.
"I really do like UCLA," Samia said. "They're a great school and I really do enjoy my time every time I go there.
"I feel comfortable there. I should be able to make my way down to L.A. soon, just drive down and hang out with everybody. I'll take my official there for sure. I'm pretty sure I'm going to take at least one or two official visits. I know the officials are going to happen before I decide."
Samia said an official visit to UCLA is almost guaranteed and then he'll see what happens with Oklahoma to determine whether he'll take one there or not.
