MIAMI -- The process of scheduling official visits is a slow grind for four-star wide receiver Darnell Salomon. He is yet to set a single date for in-season travel and doesn't know when that might take place. That said, he has a few destinations kicking around in his head.
According to Salomon, Alabama and Oklahoma remain the frontrunners to land his commitment, but finalizing visit plans to either campus has proven tricky.
"It's hard because a lot of our games are on Saturdays," Salomon said. "That makes it pretty tough to get do it. There are some games that we are going top have on Friday, but that's later. The visits will be later in the season."
A Rivals250 prospect, Salomon says West Virginia, Louisville and N.C. State are also involved in his recruitment and occupy the tier below his the Crimson Tide and Sooners in the pecking order.
WHAT'S NEXT?: Because of his reliance on late official visits, Salomon will likely make a somewhat late decision. For now, his plan is to announce his choice at January's U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
IN HIS WORDS: With Oklahoma and Alabama, they're telling me just to do my thing," Salomon said. "They want me to just come out and dominate on the field and visit when I can. They're still going to be looking at me."
RIVALS' REACTION: It will be interesting to see if Alabama fills up on wide receivers prior to Salomon's announcement. Either way, it seems as though Oklahoma has a slight edge in the recruitment of Salomon, who seems to be enamored with the Sooners. OU's well-publicized victory over SEC-based Tennessee probably has not hurt its cause with the Florida-based wide receiver either. Still, a lot can change netween now and January.
