Pearland, Texas defensive back Nicholas Saenz may be inching closer and closer to his first scholarship offer.

Saenz says he gets a large quantity of mail from the likes of Kansas State, Texas A&M, Houston, TCU, and Boise State. The 6-foot, 160-pounder is being recruited primarily as a cornerback and says that the Wildcats may be close to offering.
"I got a handwritten letter from Kansas State," Saenz said. "I'm not really sure what it's supposed to say if it's an official offer. I think they're in the process though."
Texas A&M appears to be one school that has caught his early interest.
"I went to their junior day and the coaches were talking about if I have a good spring, I could get an offer possibly," Saenz said. "That's the only junior day I went to, but I really liked their facilities."
Saenz says that he's really focusing on academics as a big factor to make his decision. He'd like to either pursue business or dentistry.
As a junior, Saenz says he recorded eight interceptions, 35 tackles, and a forced fumble. He was also a first-team all-district, all-county, all-Greater Houston and third-team all-state pick.
"I can just read the offense well," he said. "I've got speed and I'm quick to the ball."
