Sacramento safety on the map

The Sacramento area of Northern California is always good place to find football players and this year is no different. Near the top of the class if not the absolute top prospect in the area is safety/wide receiver Eric Pinkins (6-2.5, 182, 4.55) from Sacramento (Calif.) Indercum.

As a junior, Pinkins earned all-league honors after racking up 52 tackles, five passes defended, four interceptions, two forced fumbles and two blocked punts.
A hard worker, Pinkins has been busy attending camps and had a good performance at the NIKE Camp held in Palo Alto, Calif., and he followed that up with another solid camp performance.
"I went to Cal's individual camp on June 8th," Pinkins said. "You have to be invited to go to that camp. I did pretty well on my one on ones. Cal wanted me to go to their full pad camp, but my coach wants me to attend our defense camp held at our school."
The scouting report on Pinkins is he has outstanding character, leadership skills and is a true student athlete. He's a natural hitter and is very good in run support and is solid in pass coverage.
Look for Pinkins to add wide receiver duties this fall. Though he has the size colleges are intrigued with for a wide receiver, he is primarily being looked at as a safety at this time.
Pinkins already has one offer on the table from UNLV and he is getting serious recruiting attention from Fresno State, Utah, Utah State, Nevada, Penn and Cal.
What is Pinkins looking for in a college?
"I want to go a school with excellent academics," Pinkins said. "That's the first thing, then I want to play on a decent football team."
"It doesn't matter where I go to school as a long as I get a free education and chance to start and play on the football team," Pinkins said. "Every football team I have played on, I have started."
In the classroom, is also good carrying a 3.2 GPA.
