Five-star Oklahoma commit Caleb Williams isn't letting the dead period slow down the Sooners on the recruiting trail. He set up a big recruiting weekend in Norman with some of the nation's top players in attendance. Of course, the Oklahoma coaching staff wasn't able to be a part of this recruiting event but that didn't stop the players from getting a look around the Oklahoma campus to see what it would be like to go to school there.
One of the players that made the trip to Oklahoma was Rivals250 receiver Jalil Farooq. The Upper Marlboro (Md.) Wise star is very close with Williams and the Sooners have a lot of momentum in his recruitment.

IN HIS OWN WORDS...
"I think it was a great opportunity," Farooq said. "I've been doing a lot of virtual tours but being able to actually be there was a great opportunity to see the campus in person.
"I saw the stadium and how big it really is up close," he said. "I saw the campus but we didn't get to see the dorm rooms. We also saw all the places to get food around there. It was definitely a good view of Oklahoma.
"I would say it was a great opportunity to be there with guys that could be my future teammates," said Farooq. "I already have somewhat of a bond with Caleb but I got to meet the other guys and talk with each other about all the same stuff we're going through with the recruiting process. It was really a great trip.
"We went to Top Golf and we went to a lot of great spots to eat," he said. "We walked around campus just to see everything and chill with the guys. We rode the scooters around too. We all watched Kelvin Gilliam announce his commitment.
"Maryland, Boston College, LSU, Clemson, and Alabama are still in a good spot with me," Farooq said. "I'll be announcing my commitment on September 27th, my mom's birthday. I don't have any other trips planned right now but I would like to take one to Clemson."
RIVALS' REACTION...
At this point it's hard to see Farooq ending up anywhere other than Oklahoma. The trip to Norman was one Farooq had been wanting to take for a long time. In fact, he was supposed to visit earlier this year but his basketball team had a playoff game that forced him to skip the trip. The other teams Faroq is considering do have longstanding relationships with him but it will be tough for them to overcome Oklahoma's lead.
