Rivals250 OT Obinna Eze announces Final 5, decision set for Monday

The Latest: Rivals 250 offensive lineman Obinna Eze is one of the more unique stories you'll hear in the world of major college football recruiting. The Nashville, Tenn. prospect left his native Africa in 2014, with hopes of becoming a basketball star in the United States. However, he quickly shifted his focus from the hardwood to the gridiron and picked the game up quick enough to earn offers from some of the country's top programs. And while he's yet to suit up in a regular season varsity football game due to transfer rules, he's ready to reveal his college destination. Rivals.com caught up with Eze to get his Final Five schools and his thoughts on each heading into his planned Monday announcement.

In His Words:

LSU: "I had a great visit to LSU. I loved working with the offensive line coach while I was there for camp. The game day environment is amazing, too. They have been one of the first schools to believe in me and they really showed me a lot of personal attention when I visited last month. Not to mention they have guys on the roster with a similar background to me."

Florida: "I like the offense Florida runs, and I have a great relationship with Coach Summers and he's a guy that's a great teachers. They've shown that guys can come in and play early and that's something that's appealing to me."

Memphis: "Memphis was one of the first schools to recruit me and start a relationship with me. I like the direction of their program and I like their coaching staff. They have really told me that I can be the face of the program there and have a chance to come in and play right away. Plus it's close to the people I know here in Tennessee."

Tennessee: "It's the in-state school and I know a lot of people who have gone there. I love their game day experience and they have told me that I would fit really well into

Alabama: "It's the top program in America, they put a bunch of guys in the NFL every year. I have visited a bunch of times so I feel comfortable with their coaches. Coach Cristobal is also a great guy and a great coach to work with and he was one of the first guys who gave me a chance."

Rivals Reaction: Eze recently went on a trip that included visits to LSU and Texas A&M and he's also been a regular at Tennessee in recent months. The obvious surprise on this list is Memphis, one of the first schools to offer Eze and the dark horse to land his services from the beginning. Will he really spurn some of the SEC's best to go to Memphis? We'll have the answer in a few more days.
