Not long after Auburn concluded its final Elite Camp of the summer, Helaman Casuga had a new offer.

The 2026 quarterback visited Auburn earlier this month for the camp, his first trip to the Plains. He picked up an offer from quarterbacks coach Kent Austin before he left and saw enough to warrant a possible return in the fall.

"I was impressed, I’m not gonna lie," Casuga said. "I didn’t know what to expect because this was my first time coming out here. The area is great, campus is amazing, so it was a great feel for Auburn, for sure."

Rated as the No. 86 overall player in the class, Casuga is looking to get a feel for a wide range of schools. His favorite part of the Auburn trip was meeting the coaching staff, because the staff is what will separate a program for him.

"Football, every school is gonna be good in a way," Casuga said. "Just being able to connect with them, sit down with them and just get to know their personalities and what they’re like."

Not only did Casuga interact with Austin off the field, but on the field as well. During the Elite Camp, Casuga worked closely under Austin, as the 6-foot-1 quarterback picked up a few things on his technique.

"The biggest thing he taught me was just to push through my throws and transfer my weight from the back to the front," Casuga said. "Obviously it was great to be coached by him and just kinda get a feel for how he does things. He was super alert and loud on the field, I like that a lot."

The people of Auburn were another reason why Casuga enjoyed his stay in town, as he works to find out what's important for him.

"I’m gonna be hanging out with these guys day in and day out," Casuga said. "If I’m connected with them, just off the field and they have good football and a great living area. I have to be able to feel comfortable in just the surrounding area. Just the living, where I’m going to be staying at. If I feel safe and at home and then obviously the coaches play a big part. If I connect with them right away."

Casuga is hoping to go through his junior season before coming to a decision about a commitment. He's hoping to make plenty of game day visits this fall to programs like Auburn, Texas A&M, USC, Oregon and Oklahoma State.

"I’d love to check out Auburn again," Casuga said. "100%, I’d like to visit my top schools in the fall."
