CEDAR HILL, Tex. -- As if Rivals100 safety Lewis Cine wasn’t already receiving plenty of attention, his transfer to Trinity Christian Academy in the Dallas area this spring opened up a whole new dimension to the focus on him - and the programs he’s now focusing on.

Cine took a visit to Texas at the end of last month and picked up an offer from Baylor on Tuesday. In addition to recent offers from Arkansas and Texas A&M, there is a decidedly new regional feel to his recruitment.

“Im definitely open to what’s down here now,” he said. “Before when I was up north, I was just focused on that but now I’m down here, and my eyes are really opened up to what’s here and overall – everywhere in the country.”

That’s not to say that the teams that had been most prevalent with him prior to his move southwest from Massachusetts. He said that Michigan and Penn State have been the two teams that have held steady through his move and are two teams that are on his shortlist to take an official visit to when the time comes.

“I know the love they show, the relationship that me and them have,” he said. “The only thing that’s missing is me taking those visits to be around the players and be around the staff for a good period of time.”

IN HIS WORDS

Recapping his visit to Texas

“Everything went very great,” he said. “I was impressed by what I saw, the conversation that me and the coaches had, and the campus overall.”

On his relationship with safeties coach Craig Naivar

“Me and Coach Naivar text on a daily basis,” he said. “We talk about me coming for another visit, he tells me that I’m the type of player that they want, and we’re really working to build that relationship.”

RIVALS REACTION

As new offers continue to come in after his change in locale, Cine is beginning to think harder about where those programs fit in his interests and whether or not he’ll schedule official visits to them. With the timeline he’s on, officials to some of those recently involved teams could carry more significance in his considerations.

“I’m going to be an early-enrollee, so I have to pick my visits carefully,” he said. “I need to pick the schools that I’m really interested in, break things down and take my officials to see what I really want.”
