Rivals Recap: Oaks Christian vs. St. Bonaventure

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- Oaks Christian used a balanced

attack and an opportunistic defensive effort Friday night against league rival
St. Bonaventure to remain undefeated on the season. Here are some takeaways from
the 48-23 victory.
I was impressed with...
Matt Corral, the sophomore quarterback that recently landed his first
scholarship offer from USC, looked poised beyond his years. On one
nearly catastrophic play in the first quarter, Corral saw a snap sail well over
his head but didn't panic, recovering the ball with his back to the defense
before firing down field from his own one-yard line for what proved to be the
game-changing touchdown. Corral also made things happen with his feet,
scrambling to the edge when plays broke down and buying time for receivers to
find open space. He showed off a strong arm and the mechanics that should make
him one of the most coveted 2018 prospects in the area.
I was surprised by...
Running back Gil-Scott Jackson had some brilliant runs while amassing
nearly 180 yards on the ground. He scored twice and showed great vision running
between the tackles, staying low to the ground and making defenders miss in the
open field. He has visited California, UCLA and USC, and hopes
to continue building a senior highlight tape that will impress college
recruiters.
Other notes...
USC
commit Michael Pittman certainly made his presence felt on the
offensive side of the ball, totaling nearly 200 receiving yards and that long
touchdown from Corral, but he also made an impact on defensive. He played a few
series at safety, making a couple tackles and recovering a fumble while showing
good coverage skills down field. Still, Pittman told Rivals.com wideout is his

He raised his arms and came down with the football before returning it six yards
for a score. That length and hand-eye coordination should make him one of the
top tight ends in the 2017 class.
