Without many of the winter all-star games and showcases, there were fewer opportunities to evaluate than usual for the senior class since the last update of rankings at the beginning of December. That was especially true at the quarterback position, where both the pro-style and dual-threat rankings remained largely unchanged.

There are three quarterbacks ranked in the overall top 10 of the Rivals250 following this update, giving testimony to the strength of the position in this 2021 class. The last time three quarterbacks finished in the top 10 was the vaunted 2018 class, which featured Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields and JT Daniels finishing in three of the top four spots.

Oklahoma dual-threat quarterback Caleb Williams remains the highest-ranked quarterback, staying at No. 5 in the Rivals250. Two spots behind Williams is Georgia quarterback Brock Vandagriff, and Oregon signee Ty Thompson rounds out the trio at the No. 9 spot. If there is a spring update to the Rivals250, there is a chance that list could grow.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Sam Huard

Every prospect in the pro-style and dual-threat quarterback rankings signed in the early period last month, so there are no ongoing recruitments left to watch in 2021. There are, however, some players who could still play out their senior seasons.

A total of 16 states postponed or canceled their 2020-21 football seasons, but there is momentum in several of those states to play a spring high school football season. One of those states is Washington, where five-star quarterback Sam Huard has indicated his intention to play a spring football season. The future Washington Husky is currently the fourth-ranked quarterback prospect overall, and would have a chance to improve on that ranking if he does play this spring.

PLAYER ON THE RISE: None

With no winter all-star games and most high schools having wrapped up their fall seasons before the last rankings release, none of the prospects in the quarterback position rankings saw their ratings changed in this update. That also meant there was no change in the pro-style position rankings, but the dual-threat position rankings did see one change. Iowa City, Iowa, quarterback Marcus Morgan slid out of the rankings after deciding he would be pursuing baseball instead of football at the University of Iowa. That change allowed Texas commit Charles Wright to slide in at the end of the quarterback rankings.
