TEAM TO WATCH: LSU

LSU’s current quarterback is the odds-on favorite to take home the Heisman Trophy this Saturday, and that kind of publicity certainly does not hurt the Tigers when they are recruiting the position for the future. They laid the groundwork by offering more than a dozen quarterbacks early, and are now strong contenders for several of the top available targets at the position.

The Tigers are a popular pick to land new five-star Caleb Williams, but are also strong with Rivals100 passer Garrett Nussmeier and do not seem to have completely thrown in the towel with four-star Virginia Tech commit Dematrius Davis, who attends Houston North Shore High School, which they always recruit well.

PLAYER ON THE RISE: Caleb Williams

The No. 3-ranked quarterback in this 2021 class coming into the latest rankings update, Caleb Williams has now climbed to No. 2 and is making the No. 1 overall QB, Brock Vandagriff, very uncomfortable by ranking just one spot behind him in the Rivals100. Williams moves from the pro-style position to take over the top spot in the dual-threat position rankings in this update. He remains uncommitted, but LSU is the heavy favorite. Clemson, Georgia, Oregon and Penn State are other schools in contention for Williams.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Miller Moss

The top of this quarterback class has generated a ton of early attention and praise, with six quarterbacks ranking in the top 30 overall players in 2021. There is impressive depth in the tier of quarterbacks just behind that top group too, though, with another five ranked among the next 45 players in the Rivals100. New to that group is Californian Miller Moss, whose rating rose from a 5.8 to a 5.9 in this update and who now sits at No. 7 in the pro-style position rankings. After throwing for over 3,000 yards and 30 touchdowns as a junior, Moss continues to see his offer list expand, with recent additions from Arizona State and Washington State.
