The first Rivals100 for the 2021 class was released earlier this week, and now the initial position rankings for the class have been unveiled. We start with the quarterback rankings, which feature the No. 1 overall player in the country in Brock Vandagriff.

Class of 2021 Quarterback Rankings: Pro-style | Dual-threat

RIVALS RANKINGS WEEK:

Tuesday: 2021 Rivals100 revealed | Vandagriff No. 1 | Mind of Mike

Wednesday: 2021 Offensive position rankings

Thursday: 2021 Defensive position rankings revealed

Friday: 2021 State rankings revealed

TEAMS WITH TOP COMMITS: Ohio State, Michigan, Washington

There are 50 prospects already committed to college programs in the 2021 class, but only five are quarterbacks. Three of those quarterbacks, however, rank among the top 13 players in the Rivals100. The No. 2 overall quarterback prospect is Ohio State commit Kyle McCord, who debuts at No. 9 in the Rivals100 and will be in attendance next week when the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by adidas lands in Atlanta. Michigan commit J.J. McCarthy is just two spots behind McCord at No. 11, and also will be participating in next week’s Five-Star Challenge. Two spots behind McCarthy is Washington commit Sam Huard at No. 13, and he is the longest-tenured of the five current Power Five quarterback commitments. Notre Dame’s 2021 quarterback commit, Tyler Buchner, also debuts in the Rivals100 at No. 52, while Minnesota quarterback commit Athan Kaliakmanis starts as the No. 16 pro-style quarterback in the 2021 class.

TOP PROSPECT: Brock Vandagriff

There are many storylines to track with the first rankings for the 2021 class, and one of those is the strength of the quarterback position at the top. Fully one-third of the first 21 players in the Rivals100 are quarterback prospects, and that group is led by five-star Brock Vandagriff, who also debuts as the No. 1 overall player in the class. Vandagriff is a Georgia native whose recruitment many feel could be a battle between the home-state Dawgs and Lincoln Riley’s Oklahoma Sooners. With so much talent at the top of the position, though, Vandagriff starts with the early target on his back. The first test will come next week at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge, where the Nos. 2- and 3-ranked prospects at the position – Ohio State commit Kyle McCord and Michigan commit J.J. McCarthy – will be competing alongside him.

PLAYER TO WATCH: Behren Morton

The dual-threat quarterback position starts with five four-star prospects, but expect Texan Behren Morton to get consideration to join that group in the next update of the 2021 rankings after a strong start to the summer camp season. Morton debuted as the No. 7 dual-threat quarterback in the first ranking of the position.

In the last month, Morton has added offers from in-state programs Baylor, SMU, Texas A&M and Texas Tech, to go along with national offers from the likes of Boston College, USC and Wisconsin. He has put up strong testing numbers, attesting to his dual-threat abilities, at several camps and has proven to be productive on the field after throwing for over 2,500 yards and 22 touchdowns as a sophomore.
