Rivals Rankings Roundtable: Most interesting recruitments

There are still a lot of interesting recruitments and storylines leading up to the Early Signing Period. Today, we ask the Rivals analysts to name one prospect in their respective region (committed or uncommitted) that could see a lot of twists and turns before it’s all said and done.

It's the state of Florida, so pick a prospect. I'll go with Avantae Williams, however, as Florida has a real shot to flip him from Oregon down the stretch.

ADAM FRIEDMAN, Mid-Atlantic analyst

NC State lost a commitment from defensive lineman Jaylen Smith and he isn’t short of suitors. Oregon recently offered and Virginia just hosted him for a visit. There should be plenty more visits coming up for Smith.

ADAM GORNEY, West Coast analyst

There are going to be a lot of interesting changes coming if and when USC fires Clay Helton and hires a new coach - and if it happens to be Urban Meyer then everything can be turned upside down. But I’m going with five-star tight end Darnell Washington. He just visited Alabama and he had a great visit there so the Crimson Tide have moved up, especially after Arik Gilbert picked LSU. But I still get the feeling Washington likes Georgia the most. I wouldn’t count out Miami or Tennessee and he’s going to visit Oregon as well and the Ducks’ coaching staff does an incredible job. Washington’s recruitment could still go in a variety of ways.

JOSH HELMHOLDT, Midwest analyst

Will Minnesota's undefeated season be the key factor that keeps the state's No. 1 prospect home? Four-star linebacker Kaden Johnson has taken official visits with Nebraska, Oregon State and Wisconsin already, and he has added new offers this season from LSU and Tennessee. But, Johnson has been a regular visitor at TCF Bank Stadium during the Gophers' undefeated run, and he would be a crowning jewel in P.J. Fleck's 2020 recruiting class.

CHAD SIMMONS, Southeast analyst

McKinnley Jackson quickly comes to mind. Not only is he an elite player that has major options, but he is also one of the select few who is going to take his recruitment all the way to that first Wednesday in February. Over 90 percent of the 2020 class is expected to sign during the Early Signing Period in June. By that time, Jackson will only have two official visits behind him, with three remaining in January. Jackson has been committed to LSU and he could go back with the Tigers. But, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss and Texas A&M are also in this race. This is one that will go down to the wire with a few twists and turns before Jackson puts the pen to the paper.

SAM SPIEGELMAN, Texas/Louisiana analyst

Zachary Evans is the obvious answer, but we discuss him quite a bit. Garrett Hayes is in the Rivals250. He’s an All-American tackle prospect that stays off social media and doesn’t really partake in interviews. He’s been connected to Arkansas, Texas A&M, TCU and Oklahoma, and I expect him to wind up at one of those programs. He’s an Aggie legacy, but TCU is coming on strong and Oklahoma is making a late push. Given the mystery surrounding a kid that doesn’t tweet or talk often makes figuring out his college decision all the more tricky.

WOODY WOMMACK, Southeast analyst

Jordan Burch continues to confound because he doesn't do interviews, which usually only leads to more speculation among fans and media members. Burch recently revealed his top five, and with LSU's recent success on the field and on the trail, some are wondering if the Tigers can pull off another stunning recruiting upset. Conventional wisdom says that Clemson and Georgia are the teams to beat, but with Burch being so quiet it's not out of the realm of possibility for anything to happen.
