Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Adam Gorney and National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman don’t always see eye to eye. In this edition of Rival Views, the two debate whether there is another five-star receiver in the 2025 class after watching two days of Navy All-American Bowl practice.

GORNEY’S VIEW: NO

This is not a hard “no” because that would be bucking historical NFL Draft trends and the fact that this class has a lot of quality depth at receiver. I’m just not sure I see a ton of future first-round picks among the group even though they’re very talented players.

In the end, though, we will probably bite the bullet and take some shots on elite high-end four-stars to make them five-stars in the last rankings cycle because we do have some wiggle room with only 28 five-stars right now (we try to get to 32 to mirror the first round of the draft) and there are some players that could make an argument.

Of the players I’ve seen in San Antonio through two practice days, I’d say Texas signee Kaliq Lockett has been the best of the bunch. But I haven’t been sold on fellow Texas signee Jaime Ffrench so we’re right back to where we started with two.

I’m not a big fan of awarding players who skipped the all-star games and giving them a rankings bump but I also want to get the rankings as accurate as possible and Ole Miss signee Caleb Cunningham and Texas A&M signee Jerome Myles might be five-stars - if they’d just show up somewhere and run routes.

There will be a lot of names to consider in our final rankings but having just two five-star receivers seems very low considering there have been seven, four, six, five and six taken in the first round of the last five NFL Drafts.

SPIEGELMAN’S VIEW: YES

The Navy All-American Bowl is full of talented wide receivers making compelling cases for their fifth star. Currently, there are only two five-star receivers in the 2025 class including Jaime Ffrench, who has had several big moments in San Antonio in the final in-person evaluation before Rivals’ final class rankings.

There is almost no question there will be at least one more wide receiver added to that five-star group with Ohio State signee Quincy Porter and Texas signee Kaliq Lockett both making strong cases to join the club.

Porter has outstanding size to play on the perimeter with fantastic ball skills and he’s fared very well in live competition. Lockett had an insanely productive junior campaign and during the All-American Bowl has been stellar against elite competition, in position workouts and in live action.

When you take into account other elite receivers like CJ Wiley and Caleb Cunningham I love the chances of a few more receivers earning their fifth stars.
