Marlin, Texas cornerback Matterial Richardson received several calls during the May calling period. But, since then, he has put recruiting on the back burner.
“I haven’t thought a lot about recruiting,” the 5-foot-10, 190-pound Richardson said.. “They can't call us until September, and I haven’t put much effort into thinking about it since the coaches could last call us.”

Richardson has taken it easy this summer.
“I’ve just been working out getting ready for our season,” he said. “We’re hoping to have a good year this fall and I’ve just been working hard so I can put my best effort on the field.”
Richardson, a two-star rated prospect, has two schools at the top of his list.
"The two schools are I like are Oklahoma and TCU. Those two have done all they can to get their name out in front of me. TCU has offered me and Oklahoma hasn’t. But they are both good programs.”
As far as official visits this fall, Richardson knows he would like to visit two schools for sure.
“I may take more, but I know I will visit Oklahoma and TCU based on what I know about them already. That is all I have in my mind right now. As the season goes on, more schools will probably talk to me about visiting them too.”
Don’t look for an early announcment from Richardson on his school choice.
“I will wait until after the season,” he said. “I want to have a good year and see what comes from that. Hopefully more opportunities will come up that I can choose between.”
