Richardson gives Iowa State verbal

Humble, Texas linebacker John Richardson had flown completely under the radar to most schools, but the 6-foot-1, 233-pound defender wasn't a secret to the Iowa State coaching staff. With their offer, Richardson decided it was time to ahead and make a decision.
Texas Tech, Georgia Tech, Duke, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and Rice had all been sending him interest, but it was the Cyclones that made their scholarship known which sealed the deal.

"It was just about a week ago, I'm going to Iowa State," Richardson said. "Basically I liked their attitude that they showed toward me. I've got a lot of respect for that school. I like them a lot and I got a chance to look at them play."
"I'll get to see them on my official visit too when I go there on Dec. 9."
The visit will also provide an opportunity for ISU to sure up his commitment. Right now, he's a soft commitment who looks to take other visits.
"I'm thinking about visiting Texas Tech, Texas A&M, and Rice," Richardson said. "They talked about offers, so we'll see."
"Basically though, Iowa State is the top school on my list for sure."
