LOCAL REACTION

West Virginia is off to a strong start in the 2021 class despite things coming to a standstill in many areas due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The seven commitments that the program has is the most at this stage in the Rivals.com era and there are a lot of reasons to be excited about each member of the class.

"The Mountaineers have landed arguably their top target in Milum, have their quarterback in place and have already addressed several other key positions. Unlike most schools, West Virginia is being patient and taking commitments from prospects that have visited and have a good connection with the staff and is in a good spot for many other top targets entering the summer.” - Keenan Cummings, WVUSports.com

NATIONAL REACTION

“West Virginia fans shouldn’t be concerned about their team ranking right now. Neal Brown and his staff have proven they know how to find prospects that can excel in their system. If you look at all the teams that hold more than one commitment, this West Virginia class would rank in the top 20 when looking at average stars per recruit. That’s important to remember when projecting how this West Virginia team will recruit moving forward.

“Securing a commitment from Millum was one of the biggest recruiting wins for any team this year and the Mountaineers are doing a great job recruiting in Ohio. Going forward, look for West Virginia to take its time to evaluate prospects and not rush into taking commitments without doing their homework. That being said, West Virginia really wants to land commitments from Leary, Prather, and Chappell. The Mountaineers have been recruiting these three prospects for a long time and each has West Virginia as one of the leaders.” - Adam Friedman, East Coast analyst
