Some major recruits playing in today's Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas have yet to make their final decision. Take a peek at where they might end up.
SHRINE BOWL OF THE CAROLINAS RECRUITING BUZZ: ACC | Big Ten | SEC
The latest: South Carolina picked up Nasirildeen’s commitment in August and the Gamecocks are still in line to have him in the fall. Florida State hasn’t let up and did host him and his family in October for an official visit. Seminole assistant coach Jay Graham graduated from Nasirildeen’s high school and has made it clear that he’s not giving up on him.
Prediction: Will Muschamp and his staff will host Nasirildeen and his family for an official visit in January. If that visit goes well, expect Nasirildeen to sign with the Gamecocks on Signing Day.
The latest: The Gamecocks held Moore’s verbal commitment for a couple months but he decommitted in October. South Carolina will host him for an official visit in January but don’t expect him to end up in Columbia. N.C. State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech are in the best position right now. Moore just took an official visit to N.C. State and will take official visits to Tennessee and Virginia Tech in January. He says a commitment could come any time but nothing will be certain until he signs on Signing Day.
Prediction: Hokie and Volunteer fans have reasons to be optimistic when it comes to Moore. Tennessee has seemingly been in the driver’s seat since Moore’s decommitment and many people were even picking the Volunteers for Moore’s initial commitment. Virginia Tech is lurking, so keep an eye on the Hokies down the stretch.
The latest: Butler has done his research and is ready to announce his commitment on Dec. 21. Tennessee, South Carolina, N.C. State, Duke, Texas A&M and Penn State are his finalists.
Prediction: It looks like Tennessee will land Butler's commitment next week. With more spots on the defensive line opening up in Knoxville, Butler seems destined to be a Volunteer. South Carolina is very much a contender as well.
The latest: Johnson recently took an official visit to Virginia Tech and spoke very highly of the Hokies, but still has trips to South Carolina and Tennessee set for after the dead period. The Vols don't seem to be a major factor, but the South Carolina trip could be the tipping point in his recruitment.
Prediction: South Carolina. It's hard to project how things will look in the Gamecocks class following the dead period, but it's hard to doubt Muschamp's track record when it comes to nabbing in-state recruits during his 12 months in Columbia.
The latest: Robinson's recruitment has slowed during the fall and after once being targeted by some of the nation's top schools, it's hard to project where he will end up. He said this week that Virginia Tech, Notre Dame and N.C. State are still in the mix and he plans to officially visit all three schools in January.
Prediction: Virginia Tech. Robinson is still a quality player and could fit nicely with Hokies.
