Monkell Goodwine would have been one of those players that takes all of his official visits early and then tries to commit by the summer but the Fort Washington (Md.) National Christian Academy defensive end has put his recruitment on hold because of the pandemic and recruiting dead period.
There are a number of teams after his commitment but he has tried to maintain contact for now until he's able to take those visits later this year. Holding off on a commitment is getting harder for Goodwine but he is planning on taking his visits before he decides.
Take a look at where his top contenders currently stand.

1. Alabama
Alabama has kept in contact with Goodwine the most and been the most consistent throughout the process. He frequently has Zoom conversations with Nick Saban too. Goodwine likes the way he’d be used in that defense and is confident that the coaching staff could get him in position to have a lot of success on the field and in the NFL.

2. Clemson
Clemson turned up the heat on Goodwine when it lost a commitment from Korey Foreman earlier this year. Since then he's been staying in touch with the coaching staff a lot. Goodwine expects to have a Zoom conversation with the coaches in the next week or two and is very excited about how Clemson developed defensive linemen lately. Expect the Tigers to get an official visit when he's able to take those trips.

3. Texas A&M
Texas A&M has shot up Goodwine's list of contenders lately. The Aggies aren't scared to come out to the East Coast to get defensive linemen. Goodwine has developed a good relationship with defensive line coach Elijah Robinson and the Aggies are in position to get an official visit. Texas A&M would love to pair him with current defensive line commits Jahzion Harris and Victory Vaka.

Arizona State is a new name in Goodwine’s recruitment but the Sun Devils are a very intriguing option for him. 5. Kentucky
Kentucky is also a new school in Goodwine's recruitment. He's been in frequent contact with the coaches, including Zoom conversations. Those relationships seem to be building quickly. Keep an eye out for the Wildcats once the recruiting dead period is over, as they could potentially get him for a visit.
