Over the summer, four-star quarterback Miller Moss released a top seven of Alabama, Cal, Georgia, Michigan, UCLA, USC and Yale.

Some programs have moved up, some programs have moved down and at least one program - LSU - has been added to the list through April. In short, the only constant has been that there have been lots of changes along the way, another sign that just a few months in the recruiting process can be a lifetime.

The Mission Hills (Calif.) Alemany standout had planned an early March commitment but because of the coronavirus travel ban, Moss decided to delay his decision and that, in turn, has changed some things in his recruitment as well.

There are still a lot of moving parts, but there are also definitely some clear standouts as the process works through the spring. With no clear timetable for a decision, we rank the contenders that look the best in his recruitment:

CLASS OF 2021 RANKINGS: Rivals250 | Position | Team | State

CLASS OF 2022: Top 100

1. USC

USC landed a commitment from high four-star quarterback Jake Garcia in September. He’s currently ranked as the third-best pro-style QB in the class. That won’t matter to Moss, who has only talked highly of the Trojans throughout his recruitment and continues to do so. After Garcia’s pledge, Moss said he would absolutely still consider USC. He’s said he loves it on campus, it’s been a school that he’s envisioned playing for and if he’s not the only quarterback in the class, that’s not going to matter.

2. UCLA

Moss continues to talk with Chip Kelly, he’s had good meetings with Kelly and quarterbacks coach Dana Bible, he likes the Bruins’ offense and there could be a tremendous opportunity in Westwood. After Dorian Thompson-Robinson is done as the starting quarterback, Moss would be immediately right in the thick of things to earn the starting job. UCLA has struggled on the field since Kelly got there but he’s smart, he’s an offensive mind and he’s done well with quarterbacks. Moss has definitely been intrigued by those considerations.

3. ALABAMA

Moss has been in communication with Nick Saban and that’s definitely a big deal because Saban is not wasting time talking to top recruits that he doesn’t want to be a part of Alabama’s recruiting class. The four-star has already visited Tuscaloosa, so there is definitely mutual interest and playing in that Crimson Tide offense has to be intriguing. Could there be some pause that five-star quarterback Bryce Young just signed there and Moss knows how talented Young is since he’s also from Southern California? Maybe. But Alabama is going to stay high on the list.

4. LSU

The four-star quarterback is continuing to build a relationship with coach Ed Orgeron and it’s going well, but Moss has not visited Baton Rouge yet and that could be a hold up in terms of how serious the Tigers could be taken in his recruitment. There’s no question Moss is highly interested in LSU’s offense, how quarterback Joe Burrow played this past season and what could be ahead with an outstanding receiving corps, but until he can get to campus, expectations with LSU should be tempered.
