Last weekend, Thomas visited Alabama for its showcase event. How did he fare in Tuscaloosa? He left with a Crimson Tide offer and moved up its board as a priority recruit, according to his defensive line coach.
"It was a nice experience. I did more than my position. I did outside linebacker, and I was good at it. It was nice hearing from Coach [Nick] Saban that I did good taking my drops and all that. Coach [Mario] Cristobal is nice. He is a Miami boy, so we cool."
Earlier this summer, Thomas attended the Al Golden camp at Miami. Thomas is familiar with the 'Canes and has good relationships with the coaches recruiting him. He said, "I talk to coach Golden and coach [Micheal] Barrow a lot."
However, when asked if he has any leaders, Thomas replied, "Nah. No favorites. I'm just working hard. I don't have a list right now. No top three or anything like that."
Arkansas is in the mix as well. Thomas said coach Randy Shannon is actively recruiting him. His former teammate Denver Kirkland signed with the Razorbacks for the 2013 class.
Although some of his family wants him to stay close to home, it's ultimately Thomas' decision and he will select the school that is the best fit. He has plans to announce his choice in January.
