Cade McNamara worked out in front of the Notre Dame coaching staff this summer with a purpose.

He wanted an offer from the Irish.

The 2019 four-star quarterback from Reno (Nev.) Damonte Ranch received one after an impressive showing and shortly after he committed to Notre Dame.

Throughout his recruitment, McNamara said he was not looking to only land offers. He wanted to find the right school and if he was offered he would commit.

That happened to be Notre Dame and his decision was only reinforced after spending time on campus this past weekend when the Irish played Georgia.

“The environment was awesome,” McNamara said. “I could really see myself playing and thriving in that environment.”

McNamara, who has thrown for 705 yards with 10 touchdowns and only two interceptions in three wins to start his junior season, said his commitment remains completely firm after Notre Dame’s loss to Georgia on Saturday night.

It was a thriller, but the Irish lost, 20-19. Still, the 2019 quarterback said the outcome of one game – or all the games – won’t matter to his pledge.

“The day I committed I was 100 percent in,” McNamara said.

“I am still all-in. Coaches and I were excited to see each other again. And I was fired up to see my first Notre Dame football game.”

McNamara was Notre Dame’s first 2019 commitment. About two weeks later, the Irish added four-star defensive tackle Jacob Lacey from Bowling Green (Ky.) South Warren.
