Five-star Dexter Lawrence impressed at the Rivals Camp Series in

Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Rivals Camp Series Presented by Under Armour rolled into North Carolina on Sunday for the annual stop at Mallard Creek High School. With more than 175 participants from five different states in attendance, the talent pool was deep at every position.

The series of drills and one-on-one competitions revealed the best players, and there were plenty of notable performances.

Competition for top honors at the camp was heated at every position, with seven excellent prospects nabbing MVP honors. The most valuable players by positions were: three-star Hudson (N.C.) South Caldwell offensive guard Landon Dickerson (offensive line); five-star Wake Forest, N.C., defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence (defensive line); class of 2017 Suwanee (Ga.) Peachtree Ridge linebacker Breon Dixon (linebacker); four-star Charlotte (N.C.) Hough cornerback Marquill Osborne (defensive back); class of 2017 Mt. Pleasant (S.C.) Wando wide receiver OrTre Smith (WR/TE); Khalan Laborn (running back); and Rivals100 Charlotte (N.C.) Cuthbertson quarterback Austin Kendall (quarterback).

With so much talent on hand there were also seven prospects who were invited to participate in the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge Presented by Under Armour, which will be held at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore in June.

Joining Dickerson, Kendall and Lawrence were 2016 prospects Demetris Robertson, Mecole Hardman and Tre Lamar, and 2017 defensive back DeAngelo Gibbs.

The surprise of the day was definitely three-star prospect Dickerson, who stole the show on the offensive line while dominating during one-on-ones.

"He's such a strong, powerful prospect, but what surprised us the most was his ability to come in and compete with some very talented defensive lineman," Rivals.com National Recruiting Director Mike Farrell said. "It happens every year on the series where a few guys really emerge, and he's a perfect example of that."

Unranked prospects Smith and Dixon also showed that they belong in the discussion with the best prospects in the 2017 class.

"This event had a ton of talent, so for underclassmen to win MVP's is pretty impressive," Farrell said. "Smith has the look of a major prospect and is a great athlete, and Dixon really battled today and showed why he's already on the radar of several major programs."

The Rivals Camp Series rolls on next week, with the Rivals Camp event in Piscataway, N.J.
