Patton returns from Vol visit

Columbia (Mo.) Rock Bridge quarterback Chase Patton continues to make the tour around the official visit trail. This week included a trip to Knoxville and the University of Tennessee.
“The visit went really well,” the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Patton said. “It was a great trip.

Everything was a highlight. The game atmosphere was amazing. The Vol walk was really cool.”
Patton knew the crowd was small for the Volunteers’ game against Vanderbilt.
“It was one of their lowest attendance for them in a long time,” he said. “But, it was still a really big crowd.”
The four-star rated dual-threat quarterback did not have a single host, but instead of host by committee approach was taken by the Volunteer staff.
“Erick Ainge, another recruit and I all hung out together. Rick Claussen, Casey Woods, Josh Thompson and Kevin Simon al served as a host committee for us at different times.”
Patton had the chance to sit down and talk with coach Phillip Fulmer toward the end of his visit.
“Coach Fulmer was reiterating they are really interested in me,” Patton said. “He told me quarterback was very important this year in recruiting. They are looking for two this year and he made sure that wasn’t a problem for me. He was real straightforward about everything. Two isn’t a problem for me. There will be competition anywhere I go.”
Patton has an open weekend coming up during the Thanksgiving weekend. But, will get back right on the road the following three weekends with trips to Iowa, Missouri and Kansas State.
“Everyone has been calling pretty consistently,” he said. “Tennessee was pretty impressive. But I’m not putting anyone in the favorite spot, yet.”
