Patton not ready to make a decision

Columbia (Mo.) Rock Bridge quarterback Chase Patton has three schools at the top of his list. But the talented dual-threat star isn’t ready to pull the trigger.
“Right now, I would say my rough top three schools are Missouri, Tennessee and UCLA,” Patton said. “I haven’t made any decisions, but right now those are the three at the top.

While Missouri is the hometown squad, Patton is still looking at his other options.
“There are others still in there too,” the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Patton said. “K-State, Iowa and Virginia are probably the main other ones. I get letters from all of them. It’s a steady flow of mail.”
Patton recently competed in the Elite 11 camp in California.
“I had a lot of fun at the camp,” the four-star quarterback said. “I got to meet all of the guys I have heard about. It was nice being able to work out with them and visit with them about their experiences to date.”
Despite Patton’s excitement from the camp, he wasn’t pleased with his showing.
“I kind of struggled,” he said. “I didn’t bring my own footballs to use. Other players brought their own. I had used Nike footballs all the time. But, these were brand new. It was tough to grip them. Either way, I was honored to have the chance to participate in the camp.”
Patton is looking at several factors when it comes to choosing a school.
“I am very comfortable at Missouri,” he said. “It is right here in town. I’m familiar with it. But, I need to decide if being familiar with a school is enough to make me know it is the place. There are other factors to look at. The depth chart is one. The number of other recruits in the class. Several other factors to look at too.
“The situation at Georgia is the type of thing that I want to avoid. They already have two quarterback commitments, so they are really out of the running.”
Patton, the No. 2 rated dual-threat quarterback in the nation, hopes to squeeze in a few unofficial visits this fall.
“Right now, I want to take some visits this fall,” he said. “I just want to make sure I’m making the right decision, rather than making one quick just to have one out of the way.”
