Owens has a top four

Plantation, Fla., defensive tackle Jeff Owens has been laying low this summer. Even though, not a lot has been written about him in the past months he is definitely one of the top defensive lineman in America.
“I have a whole bunch of offers now,” Owens said. “I would say somewhere around 20 of them probably. All of my top schools have offered and that is really the main thing that I am concerned about.”

So just who are his favorites?
“My top schools right now are Miami, Florida State, Oklahoma, Georgia, NC State and Ohio State,” Owens said. “I would say that Miami, Florida State, Georgia and Oklahoma are a little bit ahead of the others right now. They all have been recruiting me really hard and have caught my attention.”
The 6-foot-2, 263-pound Owens attended the NIKE camp in Miami in early April. He ran the 40-yard in 4.84 seconds, had a 4.53 second shuttle, posted a 29-inch vertical jump and did an amazing 36 reps on the bench press.
“I am not looking to make an early decision,” Owens said. “I really want to take all of my visits and weigh all of my options before I make any kind of decision. I want to see what I like about each school and see what they all have to offer.”
Owens is rated as a four star prospect by Rivals.com. He is ranked as the No. 15 defensive tackle in the nation and the No. 18 prospect in Florida.
“I’m looking for a school that can offer me a good education and a place where I feel comfortable,” Owens said. “I would like to stay kind of close home where my family can come and see me play. Of course one of the main things I will be looking at is early playing time.”
During his junior campaign he collected 90 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 14 sacks and recovered five fumbles.
