Oregon State first to offer 2019 OL Trente Jones

The wait is over for 2019 offensive tackle Trente Jones. The 6-foot-5, 293 pound rising junior got big news Tuesday and his first offer came from Oregon State. The Beavers offered numerous prospects at Loganville (Ga.) Grayson, but being offer No. 1 made it a little more special to him.

"I knew it was coming, but I just didn't know when it would get here," Jones said about his first offer. "I knew it would happen one day and I thank God it happened today (April 25). I am just thankful."

It did not come from Georgia, Georgia State, Georgia Tech or another school that is close by — it came from school across the country that plays in the Pac 12. Jones knows a little about what the Beavers have to offer.

"I have heard about their facilities being really nice, I know they have some great coaches and I am going to look into them more now.

"I got to talk to coach (Cory Hall/area recruiter) on the phone after the offer and he said he likes my size, how I am built and how I can move for an offensive lineman. It was an amazing feeling to get the offer and to talk to coach about it."

The question now is, who will be next? Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee are some of the schools that have Jones on their radar. He has all of those schools outside of Florida State. He will see the Seminoles this weekend.

His favorite visit so far has been to Clemson, the school who won it all a few months ago.

"I liked most of the visits and it is close, but Clemson was my favorite visit," said Jones. "When I was there for Junior Day, it just felt like home. The people there are great and they made me feel like I could be there and be happy. I had a lot of fun there."

Another school with a different type of orange as their lead color was Jones' favorite growing up. Before moving down to Georgia, Jones spent his first eight years in Tennessee. He grew up a fan of the Vols.

He is open to all schools right now. Expect his recruitment to really pick up. Jones impressed Rivals Sunday enough to be one of our Rivals 3 Stripe Top Underclassmen.
