Over the past two weeks four-star offensive lineman Grant Newsome has pulled in some huge offers. Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Michigan State offered the stand out from Lawrenceville (N.J.) Lawrenceville Prep.

"Honestly, the things I know about Alabama I learned by watching them on national television," said the 6-foot-7, 280-pound Newsome. "I think everybody in the country knows what Alabama has been able to do in the past decade. I think I know a good bit about them because of their national relevance.
"I think it's pretty much the same thing with LSU," he said. "I grew up watching LSU on national television just like every other kid who watched college football growing up.
"I know a little bit about Georgia," Newsome said. "I've been talking with their coaching staff more and more. Even though they had a down year this year, historically they've been one of the top programs in the country. They play in the SEC and it doesn't get much better than that.
"Michigan State really had a great year also," he said. "I've been communicating with all of these coaches over social media and on the phone."
Newsome has an extensive offer sheet and he has many schools to keep in touch with.
"I talk with Penn State's coaches pretty frequently," said Newsome. "I also talk with Duke, Maryland, Northwestern and Michigan."
Lawrenceville Prep is a very well respected academic private school in New Jersey. Keeping in line with those standards, education will be an important factor in Newsome's decision.
"Other than academics, I think just good football will be the other deciding factor," he said. "I think every football player wants to play at the highest level they can."
Newsome recently visited Duke, Maryland and Northwestern.
"I think the atmosphere at Duke was just pretty crazy," Newsome said. "I was there for the North Carolina basketball game. It was pretty incredible. I got to sit down with coach Cutcliffe and some of the other coaches. I was really impressed.
"I liked Maryland. I thought it was a great visit," he said. "I was fortunate enough to get to meet some of their coaching staff, watch practice and get a tour of their campus and facilities. I talked with coach Dunn, my recruiting coach, and coach Stud, the new offensive line coach. I have a pretty good relationship with them.
"I think they have a pretty incredible coaching staff," said Newsome. "They are a school that is really invested in their football program and you can see that in their new facility plans. I think that's a school that is on the rise and could compete for a Big Ten championship."
Newsome is planning on attending Penn State's spring game on April 12.
