Mount Prospect (Ill.) offensive guard Eric Hedstrom (6-foot-6, 265 pounds) added his third Big Ten conference scholarship offer this spring on Friday, as Northwestern University offered this on-the-rise prospect on Friday.
“I received a written scholarship offer on Friday from Northwestern," Eric Hedstrom said. “I now have offers from Purdue, Illinois, Nebraska and Northwestern."
Hedstrom talked about his offer from the Wildcats. "First off, Northwestern is only about an hour from here, so it's definitely close to home and that's a plus. Academically Northwestern is an amazing school, and you can really be set with a degree from Northwestern. I really like the campus a lot, it's beautiful in Evanston. I was able to see a practice last year, and I really came away impressed with the coaches at Northwestern. I liked the way that they entire practice was organized, you never see any down-time at all and everything is done at a face pace. I liked the intensity at the practice."
Hedstrom also received his first phone call during the start of the May evaluation. "Coach (Mark) Hagen from Purdue called me on Saturday. We had a really good talk, and we talked about a lot of different things. We talked for about a half-hour, and Coach Hagen said that he was going to make an in-school visit this week. Both Purdue and Nebraska are scheduled to make in-school visits. Last week, Arkansas, Tennessee, Iowa, Boston College, Northern Illinois and Bowling Green all made in-school visits."
