For months, Alec Anderson had been committed to Washington State and it looked like that pledge was secure.

But then there was the coaching change at UCLA where Chip Kelly replaced Jim Mora and the Bruins got a lot more involved with the Etiwanda, Calif., standout.

Anderson decided to de-commit from the Cougars and shortly after he picked the Bruins. This past weekend the 6-foot-5, 265-pound three-star prospect took his official visit to UCLA.

It only reinforced that he made the right decision.

“My trip was awesome,” Anderson said.

“My host Zach Sweeney was a great guy. He was a funny person and just a chill person and the staff was great. My best part of the trip was talking to Mike Casillas about all the academic support I can get. That was really big to me.”

Getting to spend more time with Kelly was also a big selling point for the Bruins. The Etiwanda standout said after his visit that his commitment still stands, he’s happy with UCLA and is definitely not considering any other programs.

“My meeting with coach Kelly was great,” Anderson said. "We talked for a little because we had a longer talk last Saturday but coach Kelly is a great person. I can’t wait to play for him and learn the new system and play book. I feel that I can help UCLA impact the Pac-12.

“I’m done. I committed to UCLA last week and I am very happy with it.”
