Notebook: Top five for Lawrence
SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Battle on the Border at Independence
Stadium in Shreveport drew 14 teams from four states for seven games over three

days. The talent was strong and with top talent comes big time recruiting news.
Five for Lawrence
Rashard Lawrence
Monroe (La.) Neville Rivals250 defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence has a top five
Alabama, and he is making plans to
take his official visits.
His first official visit will be to UCLA the weekend of Oct. 2. Neville has a
bye week and UCLA will host Arizona State. He also plans to take official visits
to Ohio State and Washington, and he mentioned Florida State as a visit
possibility as well. He does not have any dates set, but he is looking at
visiting Ohio State the weekend the Buckeyes host Penn State (Oct. 17).
UCLA will be a crucial visit since his official visit will be the first time he
has a chance see the Bruins firsthand.
In addition to his official visit schedule, Lawrence also has a few unofficial
and Alabama/LSU (Nov. 7) are all games he has circled on his schedule.
He has his top five and Florida State also remains in the mix, but he does hope
to make his decision before too long.
"Soon, right after the season," Lawrence said. "Hopefully I can get one, maybe
two, officials after the season quick, but after the season so I can get it
over. I don't want to have to drag this out if I don't have to."
He wants to make his decision at his school in front of his friends and family.
Allen focused on the season
River Ridge (La.) John Curtis Rivals250 offensive lineman Willie Allen has been
taking his time with the recruiting process and his official visits will wait
until after the season.
in connection with Allen, but he does not have any unofficial or official visit
plans and he is not ready to name his leader.
"Every school is about the same," Allen said. "They all have a lot of good
things to offer. I'm just taking my time and focusing on the season."
Evans hearing from many

Evans
River Ridge (La.) John Curtis three-star linebacker Nathaniel Evans thought
about making a preseason decision but decided to take some more time with the
recruiting process.
He continues to keep an open mind to the recruiting process, and has several
schools in hot pursuit.

lot of schools. It's hard to keep up."
As for official visits, Evans tried to schedule an official visit to Houston for
Nov. 27, but it is during the season and after talking to his coaches he
will likely wait to make the visit after the 2015 season.
Massie making plans
Lufkin (Texas) defensive end Bronson Massie holds scholarship offers from
Austin, Washington and Colorado State, and he has
a few plans in mind when it comes to his visits..
"I set my official visits for Washington and Cal. Washington, I think that is
next week. It's coming up soon. I'm probably going to go to LSU and I'm going to
try and go to (Texas) A&M too."
He will probably make his decision in the middle of the season. He took an
unofficial visit to Texas with 2017 teammates Kordel Rodgers and
Dhailon Phillips on Saturday.
Attention arrives for West Monroe D-line
Layton
Garnett
West Monroe (La.) defensive end Layton Garnett turned heads with his effort and
raw ability at the LSU camp in July, and he continues to impress on the field.
After missing his junior season with an injury he is back and he is adjusting
nicely to defensive end since moving from linebacker.
"I'm liking it now. I'm more comfortable now than I was," Garnett said. "My goal
is every week to get better and better and just get better at it and pick up new
techniques and new things."
Garnett has yet to receive his first offer but LSU has talked about a preferred
walk-on spot and ULL and ULM are showing interest.
Class of
2017 defensive end Dennis Collins already holds scholarship offers from
Louisiana Tech and Jackson State. He is also receiving interest from Arkansas,
ULL and LSU, and he plans to take an unofficial visit LSU next weekend.
This weekend, Collins was at ULL, and in the past he has taken a few visits to
Louisiana Tech.
"The Bulldogs, I think they're a team to be reckoned with soon. They're on the
come up," Collins said. "I like it. I like the new facilities they've built out
there and everything."

River Ridge
(La.) John Curtis all-purpose back Devon Benn is a big play waiting to
happen and he has been a playmaker on offense and special teams. He is still
waiting for his first offer but he is receiving letters from ULL, ULM and
McNeese.
New Orleans
(La.) Warren Easton offensive tackle Malik Clark is looking to take
visits to Mississippi State, ULM, Arkansas State and Ole Miss. He has been
talking to ULM and Mississippi State the most. Mississippi State has his
attention right now and he also likes Ole Miss.
Shreveport
(La.) Evangel Christian defensive end Jeremais Houston missed the 2014
season with an injury, but he is back and against Warren Easton he was
constantly putting pressure in the backfield. He passes the eyeball test at 6-5
and 237 pounds.
Monroe (La.)
Neville 2017 defensive back JaCorion Andrews already holds an offer
from Tennessee, and he has received significant interest from Georgia
and LSU. He would like to take trips to Georgia, Alabama, LSU, TCU and
Florida during the season. He plans to visit Georgia when the Bulldogs
host Alabama (Oct. 3).
Monroe (La.)
Neville 2017 Rivals250 cornerback Corey Straughter plans to attend the
Alabama/LSU game and he plans to attend a game at Arkansas. Tennessee, who has
offered, is coming on the strongest, but Arkansas is right there showing a lot
of interest and so is Alabama.
