The Latest: Recruiting is just starting to heat up for Class of 2018 three-star running back Lelan Wilhoite. He recently added his first FBS offer from Texas-San Antonio and several other schools are close to joining his list. Among the programs showing the most interest is Northwestern. Rivals.com caught up with Wilhoite to talk about his interest from the Wildcats and his plans to visit campus.
In His Words: “I’ve been talking with Coach Chris Bowers, he’s the director of player personnel and he says he really wants to see my ACT score. They already like me as a player but they want to make sure I fit them academically too. But they love my size and love me as a running back and they think I can have a chance to contribute in the return game, at kick return and punt return. Basically if I get my score back and it’s a 21-22 I will definitely get an offer. I’ve already taken test I’m just waiting for my score to come back. As far as them on the field, I thought they had a really good bowl game. I really like how they involve the running backs. They don’t hesitate to get them the ball and as a running back that’s what I like to see. I’m definitely going to get up there for a visit soon.”
Rivals Reaction: Wilhoite has Power Five talent and the Wildcats are smart to get into the mix early for his services. While there's still plenty of time between now and Signing Day 2018, it's never too early to start identifying viable targets, especially at a valuable position like running back.
