Nordin closing in on decision

Rockford, Mich., placekicker Quinn Nordin holds 14 scholarships and is close to deciding which school he will continue his career with in college.
"I never expected in my wildest dreams to have all these opportunities," Nordin said. "It came from hard work and working with Coach (Brandon) Kornblue. It's honestly such a blessing.

"I want to decide by the end of July. I have every offer I could have ever of dreamed of, and I feel like it's time to get down to my decision."
The four schools Nordin has focused on heading into his decision are Georgia, Arizona State, Michigan and Penn State. He may visit Michigan this upcoming weekend, and was just in Ann Arbor for a kicking camp on June 13.
"Being a guy they already offered, it was nice because I could go around and hang out with the guys," Nordin said. "I was able to hang out with Coach (John) Baxter quite a bit, which was phenomenal. It was a great experience to be able to be around Coach (Jim) Harbaugh and be around Coach Baxter most of the day."
Nordin won the kicking competition at the Kornblue Kicking Camp in Ann Arbor with a boot of 51 yards from the left hash.
"I had never kicked in the 'Big House,'" Nordin noted. "That was my first time and it was pretty cool."
Michigan was an early offer for Nordin and his frequent visits to Ann Arbor have made the Wolverines a strong contender in his recruitment.
"Obviously it is in-state and being close to home is nice," Nordin said. "It's Michigan, which is pretty much all you have to say. It's a great school academically as it is in football."
Penn State was the first Big Ten school to offer Nordin and has been a leader in his recruitment since very early. A trip to Georgia was made in the month of June as well, and Arizona State rounds out Nordin's top group due to his connection with the coaching staff in Tempe.
"Coach (Shawn) Slocum, this is his first year coaching college ball and I love him to death," Nordin said. "He has that NFL connection, which is nice, and he knows about the kicking game. It's always nice to be kicking in the heat, so you can never go wrong with that."
Nordin actually received his first college scholarship offers in the sport of lacrosse when he was still in middle school. This past spring was his last playing lacrosse, however, and he will focus on football full-time going forward.
