New school, heavy attention for Patchan

Rivals100 to watch member Matt Patchan has changed high schools and is getting plenty of attention on the recruiting trail. The 6-foot-6, 270-pound two-way lineman recently transferred to Seffner (Fla.) Armwood, which produced the state's top prospect in the Class of 2007, Torrey Davis.
"I've been working out with the team since Monday," Patchan said. "I like the fact that there are hard-working players here."

Patchan previously was at Tampa's Freedom High.
On the recruiting trail, Patchan has several dozen scholarship offers.
"I've got about 30-35 offers right now," he said. "It seems like every day I talk to someone new who wants to give me a scholarship offer."
Patchan has made unofficial visits to Alabama, Florida (last week), Ole Miss, Miami (Fla.) and Georgia so far.
He has several more trips planned for the future.
"I am going up to Notre Dame for sure," he said. "We are going to try to hit as many places as we can for unofficial visits."
The race for Patchan's services is wide open right now
"It's wide open right now," he said. "I may narrow it down after spring practice so it's more manageable."
Patchan talked about what was important to him in terms of a program.
"I want to go to a school that has great talent so I can get better by working against them in practice and becoming the best I can be," he said. "I want to go to a school with great coaches and I want to have a good relationship with my position coach."
In addition to being a Rivals.com 100 to watch member, Patchan is the state's No. 30 junior according to FlaVarsity.com.
