NEW RELEASE: Updated Rivals250 for Class of 2019 | Biggest movers in Rivals250 | Players making jumps in Rivals100 | New five-stars in 2019
After evaluating prospects during their junior seasons, the new Rivals100 and Rivals250 were released for the Class of 2019 earlier this week, but that’s not the end of the changes. Several players earned their coveted fourth star, while coming up just short of making the Rivals250. Today we breakdown the players and why they made the move up the charts.
“Mullins isn’t as well-known as some of the four-star prospects in Tennessee, but that will change once coaches get a chance to get out and see him in person. The versatile wide receiver had a big season and has a knack for making explosive plays. Mississippi State and Missouri are his first two offers.” – Woody Wommack, Southeast Recruiting Analyst
“We discussed Ike as a potential four-star right off the bat when we first rated the 2019 class, but since he had not played a down of organized football in his life we waited to see him on the field. Now that his junior season is complete and we have seen him put those skills into practice in a live setting, the move to four-stars was completed. His recruitment should take off now as well, and Oklahoma, Syracuse and Temple have extended offers.” – Josh Helmholdt, Midwest Recruiting Analyst
“A long, athletic offensive tackle, Perry perfectly fits the mold of what offensive line coaches around the country are now looking for at the position. He still needs to add some muscle to his frame, but right now he has the technique of a much older player. Perry is committed to LSU.” - Wommack
“Stewart has come a long way since his freshman year and has turned out to be a very good linebacker that makes a ton of tackles. He can play inside or outside linebacker in college, but the way he sees the play develop and quickly reads and reacts should really help him continue to be a major force on the defensive side at whatever school ends up at. Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Rutgers are Stewart's early offers.” – Adam Friedman, Mid-Atlantic Recruiting Analyst
“Carter is committed to Oklahoma. He picked up his fourth star in this update and is a prime candidate to find his way into the Rivals250 eventually. Carter's likely future is as a defensive back, and was seldom thrown at as a cornerback this season.” – Nick Krueger, Texas Recruiting Analyst
“Orji holds offers from Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt and others. Orji has had the look of a linebacker playing safety for some time and didn't exactly show to be a natural in the secondary on the camp circuit over the summer, but in games this fall, seemed much more poised there. He hits as hard as you would expect him to when you see him, and has very high upside as an overall defensive talent.” – Krueger
“Watkins has been a fixture on the recruiting scene since his freshman year but has bounced around to a number of positions, including quarterback, cornerback, safety and wide receiver. The more he’s grown up the more it appears he’s destined to be a playmaker with the ball in his hands and he showed that with a huge junior season. Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida and several others are involved with Watkins.” – Wommack
